Overview
Coal India Limited is the dream company for coal mining engineers working in India. Being the world’s largest coal producer and A MAHARATNA PSU it has all privileges for employees of mining discipline.
CIL had recruited 191 Mining MTs for its 8 subsidiaries through written vacancy in 2017. This vacancy had come after long five years and the last was in 2012.
The examination paper was of total 200 marks comprised of two papers of 100 marks each. One was covering non-technical general questions and other paper was technical i.e, discipline related. There was no negative marking.This examination was Online Computer based test of 200 marks and an interview of 10 marks.

Format of Paper – II
Mining discipline related 100 questions of 1 mark each.
Toughness of Paper – I
Paper – I could be said very easy comparatively other general examinations. It was similar to SSC CHSL level and the English section was a little tough.
Toughness of Paper – II
Paper – II was moderate but not tough as high as of others examination at India Level. It was similar to Gate and covering context directly from textbooks.
An interview was taken of 10 marks. It was a simple formality to check the proficiency of aspirants.
Being a moderate paper the competition was quite tough and only 81 days were left for preparation after official advertisement. From all aspirants across India who had applied 602 were selected for interview at different subsidiary wise locations of India. After interview and passing its initial medical examination and document verification process a total of 191 candidates were allotted the joining.

Ups and downs in the Recruitment
Initially after detailed advertisement on 04.01.2017 declared on website only up to 2016 pass out candidates were allowed. But on last date of online form fill up fresher pursing degree in 2017 were granted to apply.
After the examination on 26.03.2017 the candidate’s response sheet was provided within 3 days on 29.03.2017. A time period of 7 days was allowed to arise the claim lasting on 05.04.2017.
Even after early release of response key the result of written examination was delayed because of subsidiaries promotional examination. 602 candidates were selected in written examinations for further interview. The interview was held in month of July and the list of finally selected candidates was released on 04.10.2017.
The selected candidates were invited for Initial Medical Examination on 01.01.2018 and passed candidate were given joining on same day.
Further some seats were left vacant as some candidates disqualified in medical norms of CIL. Thus a second merit list was released further on 15.09.2018. The second list comprised of 16 candidates including 12 UR and 2 OBC and 1 SC and 1 ST candidates.
Thus a total of 191 candidates were allotted joining through recruitment of 2017.
This year the seats are more than the previous!!
